      Market Analyst Interview

      13 Aug 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Kirkland, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at D.R. Horton (Kirkland, WA) in Aug 2016

      Interview

I applied on their company website and got a response two days later for a job interview via the phone. The email process was fine; the interviewer was 20 minutes late to the interview that she set the time for, and very abrupt/short/rushed sounding the entire time. I felt I learned a lot about their company and the position, etc., so at least that was good. The company itself sounds like it's great to work for, but maybe not that specific office. The interviewer was clearly interested in me - loved my experience, etc. But then immediately after I told her my salary expectations (which I told her I was open to negotiating depending on the package deal offered as well), she immediately told me that even though I have great experience and a great resume, etc., she was looking to hire someone for substantially less... something to the effect of "you have the right amount of experience but we don't want to pay you as much, so we'd be open to hiring someone more junior so we don't have to pay them." Maybe it was just the way she worded it, but it sounded like she was more interested in the person being in her budget (not that she was paying them fairly or market value for the position that she was hiring for)... especially because she admit that I was asking for a fair amount given my experience level. Overall, it was moderately easy interview process, but the interviewer definitely rubbed me the wrong way. I would not apply to work for them again, at least in that office; sounds like each of the offices are run individually.

      Question 1

Mostly just very generic questions like what's your experience, do you think this type of job and environment suits you well.
