      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CyberArk (Toronto, ON) in Aug 2021

      Interview

There were supposed to be total of 4 rounds. Overall process was very quick, each of the interviews were scheduled within less than a week of the previous round. 1) 20 min HR screen. 2) 1 hr interview with hiring manager and team lead. Some technical questions about DNS, firewall, ports, security clearances, TLS/SSL, cyber security. (I would recommend reviewing CyberArk product/solutions before the interview). I was given theoretical scenarios where they wanted to see how I approached the troubleshooting. Other half of the interview was behavioural questions and a review of my resume and background. 3) 2 hr hands on technical lab, where you screen share. I was given 3 scenarios to troubleshoot through a sandbox environment. 2 of them were on Windows and 1 on Linux. They basically tested proficiency with Linux/Windows administrative tasks, establishing SSH/RDP sessions between servers, and troubleshooting issues with connectivity issues, ability to parse through error/event logs and come up with a fix. (I will highly recommend being familiar with working on Windows. I had not worked on Windows for a few years and it really showed as I was pretty slow working through the scenarios.) 4) Didn't make it to this round, but this would have been an interview with the director of the department.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Describe what's a DNS? Which port is SSH, RDP, FTP? You're having an issue transferring a file from one server to another, how would you go about troubleshooting?

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CyberArk (Salt Lake City, UT) in Mar 2022

      Interview

The interview was split up into 4 different parts: 1. HR Interview 2. Interview with Hiring Managers (Teams) 3. Lab Interview (Teams Screen Share) 4. Interview with Director The HR interview is only about 20 minutes and is just a general overview of the role and your salary expectations. The hiring manager interview was 1 hour, and they asked a lot of technical and soft skill questions. The technical questions were more to see how you would troubleshoot an issue rather than just specific knowledge like what port uses DNS etc. At the end it was open to my questions about the role. The lab interview was scheduled for 2 hours but it only took me an hour and 15 minutes. They had an environment with a couple of windows servers and one Unix server. They had their Cyberark Password manager software and I would need to troubleshoot why their software wasn't working. They were all environmental to the servers and not to the software itself. Most of them involved user permissions, knowing what the batch file we ran did, and configuring ports. Most of the troubleshooting outside of user permissions were network related. Overall wasn't too bad if you know your way around a Domain controller and some basic network troubleshooting skills. The last interview was with the Director, they asked some more technical questions, as well as what I felt familiar with, Linux, Windows, Ansible, Docker, etc. After that it was open to more questions that I had. After all that the HR person I had my initial interview with reached out with the job offer, I didn't talk salary at all with the managers, only with the HR person. This is a L2 position, they have a helpdesk that they refer to as L1.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Do you have experience with Ansible, Docker, etc? How would you respond to a customer that is displeased with how long a ticket is taking to resolve?
