I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Con Edison (Brooklyn, NY) in Feb 2014
Interview
Very meticulous. One test on a computer which is five parts. Must pass each part before going on to next part. Then interview with manager with 20 pre set questions. Then there was a medical exam you had to go to before you get hired. Sight, hearing, flexibility, vitals, etc., etc., etc...

Question 1
What would you do if you walked into work and noticed a puddle of water on floor?
I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Con Edison (New York, NY)
Interview
The interview was long and in-depth but covered things that seemed like appropriate gauges for the role's expectations. Be prepared to show your best face and customer friendliness. Make it clear that you can separate business from personal.
Interview Process was pretty easy and straight to the point. Questions asked were pretty much scenario based questions. The interview was with two people each asking you one scenario at a time. Wasn’t difficult. Just think before responding and you shall be good.
