I was excited for my phone screen however when the Compass recruiter (Charles) called me it became very clear that they hadn't looked at my resume before calling and didn't know who I was. They opened by saying how I had come highly recommended by someone else in the company ( I didn't know anyone at the company, I had applied just through their website) and that they too agreed I could be a great fit. I answered and told them that I didn't know anyone at the company and they apologized and explained that they were interviewing someone else who did know the person in the position I was applying for. I feel like this is a pretty devastating mistake to make but a pretty simple one to avoid - know who you're talking to. The interview continued after that however I had a hard time hearing the recruiter because all I heard was what sounded like pots and pans banging around. They asked me the same question multiple times and it just became a very disheartening experience. I could have overlooked the first mistake but once it became obvious that the recruiter wasn't interested in really giving our conversation his full attention it really frustrated me. Really disappointing experience. Besides that, just be prepared with answers to those basic interview questions you think are just cliches.
