I recently interviewed for a junior-level opportunity that was described as a blend of cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and some programming. While I was looking forward to the discussion, the interview experience did not reflect the expectations set by the job description.
The panel consisted of two individuals — one of whom had difficulty communicating effectively, which made it challenging to have a constructive conversation. The other focused entirely on core Java topics, with no mention of DevOps, Linux, or cloud tools, which were key aspects of the role as advertised.
It felt like there was a disconnect between the interview content and the actual role requirements. This misalignment made the experience confusing and a bit discouraging.
Feedback to the team:
Clear alignment between job descriptions and interview structure would greatly enhance the candidate experience. Additionally, having interviewers who can communicate clearly and engage meaningfully would reflect more positively on the organization.
