Interview
I was interviewed for Lead Software Engineer. But, was offered Senior Engineer by the end of the interview. Preliminary round was a coding round. After passing that, there is a loop interview with 2 Behavioral, 2 technology and 1 Case Interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Behavioral:
1. What is the best technology challenge you have solved?
2. How did you handle conflict with a manager?
3. Tell me a situation when you were forced to do something you don’t agree?
4. Tell me a situation when you motivated others in the team.
Technology:
1. Design questions on rate limiter.
2. Design Electricity Consumption Dashboard website where users can view their power usage and a regional manager can view power usage in his region.
3. REST web services patterns.
Applied for the position online, heard back within a week or so. Scheduled a call with the recruiter which went well, and she advised I would hear back in just a few days. Weeks later, no update, no response, nothing.
I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Capital One (Tysons Corner, VA) in Feb 2026
Interview
The interview process was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful of a candidate’s time. There was little structure to the discussion and no real opportunity to demonstrate my experience or thinking. To make matters worse, there was no follow-up afterward, which only reinforced the lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. Overall, it felt dismissive, chaotic, and far below the standard one would expect for a senior role interview. Appalling behavior start to finish.
