      Account Executive Interview

      23 Jun 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bullhorn (Boston, MA) in Apr 2017

      Interview

Bullhorn seems like a wonderful company - and one that I wanted to work for initially. Based on their interview process, I do think there is a disconnect between the leadership teams and they could do a better job developing proper strategies and communicating together. I initially had a phone interview. Nothing was tough about this, standard questions. She told me when she would email me regarding an in-person interview and she did that. It was scheduled a few weeks out based on both of our availability. I came in and was informed the recruiter I spoke with had taken a new job so I met someone else in HR. I then met with three different people on the sales team (management and someone in the role). Overall, I thought it went pretty well. I also had to retake the online assessment at the end (I truly dislike companies that use this as a measure of ability to do this kind of role) and got a tour of the office - which was cool. Post interview is where things got fuzzy. My new recruiting contact sent me a nice email to introduce herself and the following week requested I get 5 references to fill out an online survey. I quickly did that. We then went back and forth for awhile with her basically expressing she had no updates yet. Ultimately, I received a phone call about two weeks after the interview that they were not going with any of the candidates, including me. They had determined they need someone with experience in the staffing/recruiting industry. Since Bullhorn develops software for THAT industry themselves, they should know better than to have asked me for those references (especially 5 of them!) Companies simply shouldn't make you or your references spend that amount of time on someone they were never interested in in the first place. They should have spoken as a team before asking for that from me and determined if they were serious about moving forward. This was extremely disappointing and a situation I've never faced with a company before. I truly hope they fix & improve their processes.

      Question 1

Lots about walking through my current jobs over the past few years, job duties, and my experience/understanding of the staffing & recruiting industry.

You were one of two finalists for the role, and we requested references from each of you, as often happens when deciding between two candidates. We use SkillSurvey, an automated reference checking partner, and they do request a minimum of 5 emails input for online references. I'm sorry that we did ultimately decide to go in a different direction, and hope that our staying in regular contact throughout the changes was helpful.

      Interview

Very thorough interview process where I got to meet a lot of the key players including future colleagues. The panel interview was a bit intimidating, but I appreciated the chance to meet with senior leadership.

      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Bullhorn (London, England) in Jan 2023

      Interview

Very long process and deliberately hidden commission structure. Following multiple online tests that are poorly hosted online and archaic, I attended 5 interviews with recruitment advisors, potential colleagues, managers and directors. All interviewers were perfect and acted professionally. In my case, the final interview with the Director for Global Sales SMB based in the UK, was the cause for rejection. The Director did not fully understand/could not explain the commission structure on offer and wasted valuable time explaining how it was "enough" and "competitive", which it isn't. Rejected due to interview focusing on comms for a sales position........ does it make sense? No it doesn't

Thank you for your insightful feedback. My team has prioritized our candidate experience this last year, so it was reassuring to hear of your positive INTERVIEWER experience! Transparency around pay and commission plans does make sense, the details of which should have been reviewed and confirmed with you before a final interview. I appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback that would have otherwise led to us overlooking this opportunity in our process. While this experience was unfortunate, I hope you’ll still consider Bullhorn in your future career search! Please contact me if you have any additional feedback at robet.zammit@bullhorn.com - Robert Zammit, Sr. Director, Talent Acquisition.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Bullhorn (London, England) in Dec 2022

      Interview

It was a smooth process - I interviewed for two positions and so it was slightly longer than usual, understandably so. I met with various stakeholders in the business, it was a 5 stages process all together. However there haven't been any considerable delays, also considering that it was around Christmas time, we went from start to finish in about 1.5 month.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There isn't a specific question I can remember, they wanted to see my eagerness to succeed in a though market. Also wanted to understand my motivations and what is that I am driven by. Lastly, of course they wanted to see my selling abilities.
