After applying online, I got an email with a link to an online personality and cognitive assessment. Having lived and worked in the UK for 4 years, I thought my english was very good - until made this test. A lot of the questions contained words, that I have never heard before in my private or professional life in the UK (ubiquitous, licentious, loquacious etc.). Unfortunately there was no time to look up those words. I find it a bit strange, to ask those questions for a role that requires mainly German or Dutch language skills. Especially considering that most candidates applying for this role probably won't be native english speakers but german or dutch speakers. When it was clear to me that I would fail that test, I just took screenshots to show to my fellow German speakers living and working in the UK. None of them would have been able to answer those questions. I also showed the questions to American and English friends and they thought it was strange, to ask people applying for a German/Dutch role those kind of questions. Also, I spend 30 min of my time completing this test, but never heard back from the company - not even an automated email that I have failed.
