I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at BlackRock (New York, NY) in Jul 2011
Interview
The first round I only met with one person. It went well, so they invited me back to meet another 6 people. None of the 6 people knew anything about me, or which role I was even interviewing for. Be prepared to inform the employees why they are meeting with you. Once I made that my opening line, the meetings were much more productive.

Question 1
How worried are you about our recent mergers with Merrill Lynch Investment Management and BGI?
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at BlackRock (London, England)
Interview
Multiple rounds of interview, initially with HR and later with members of the team and hiring manager. Mix of technical and motivational questions. Final round also included a python interview.
Simply conversations that posed questions which makes the whole interview not seem like an interview at all. Additionally, there can be some group projects if sent to an assessment centre
Generally smooth process with interviews by the entire team. Questions on both behavioral and technical questions. Prepare by truly understanding the role, what the firm is, and know the technicals very well
