I received a response on my application from the recruiter within 24 hours of submitting it. I was then asked to send a brief video intro of myself and my background. Within the same day, I was asked to have a phone interview with the recruiter the following Monday. It was a very brief chat, mostly her going over pay and scheduling expectations. The following week I had an interview with CRO. I didn't really care for the interview format; it was out on the showroom floor. For a director role, it felt very entry-level. The questions were pretty easy to navigate and he didn't challenge me on my background. He said there was an alignment with my experience and my goals with this role. I then had a quick on the spot peer-peer interview with a brand new RSD who just finished training, going over expectations etc.
Total bait and switch...I get a follow-up 3 days later from a different recruiter stating that the CRO wants to move in a different direction with the role but wants to bring me on as a "Management Trainee". 50% less pay, and I'm absolutely overqualified with over 8 years of Sales Management experience. I slowly realized this was the plan all along since they had 6 of these positions available within commuting distance from where I live. I understand that filing those roles would be their priority. Just don't try to do it with folks you deemed qualified to interview for the role that oversees them!! Very arrogant thing to do considering I was one of the few individuals who even applied (The recruiter alluded) and a week after interviewing, the position was reposted. Maybe they'd get more applicants if the compensation and scheduling were more competitive. Ironman shift from 9am - 9pm once / week? As a Regional? WHY? I think my not coming on board even in the original role I interviewed for was for the better.
