      Electrical Engineering Intern Interview

      18 Nov 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at AMD in Sept 2011

      Interview

Got a phone call requesting a relatively immediate interview from a member of the operations team (i had no previous contact from them, for example with an HR person), so I had to schedule for a weekend phone interview. After briefly describing their responsibilities -- test/verification-- went straight into technical questions regarding basic device physics -- transistors, bandgap, fermi level, etc, and was a bit caught off guard. Was expecting hardware type topics (since I applied to mostly these positions) so I was not at all brushed up on some of these fundamentals. Interviewer was not very friendly or helpful and was very condescending when I had trouble remembering some of these topics since it had been a year since i had taken a related course. Know all your basics and you should be OK

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AMD (Markham, ON) in Nov 2024

      Interview

Phone screening, then a virtual interview that was first basic personality questions, then technical questions specific to the role. For me, it was MOSFETs and then logic-based embedded coding questions

      Question 1

Showed CMOS Circuits, asked what it did, if there were any issues, and how I would improve/fix the circuit

      Electrical Engineering Intern Interview

      22 May 2022
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AMD in Feb 2022

      Interview

There were 3 rounds of interviews, all remote. The first interview was with the manager, and he gave me the entire time to ask questions about the group and the work they do. The second and third interviews were with members of the team who asked me about the courses I took, then asked basic technical questions that were relevant to their work and related to my resume; I had time to ask them more questions at the end.

      Question 1

Why do discrete GPU's have higher performance when compared to System-on-Chip GPU's?

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AMD

      Interview

Was good overall, nothing too difficult. As long as you know what you're doing and study beforehand, you should be fine. They'll probably get back to you within the week of a job posting closing.

      Question 1

A lot of questions relating to software + digital electronics
