Does United Airlines offer employee discounts?

Pros

Flight benefits, hybrid work option (for now), good place to start your career, see the world and then move on after a few years

Cons

Ageism is rampant, do not plan to be promoted after 30. Very political office environment where hard work is not rewarded, lack of transparency where decisions are made behind closed doors and handed down, jobs are promised to people by leadership before they are even open...limited chance for advancement unless you are part of the chosen group, very understaffed and long work hours are expected and lower pay than other companies, United believes the flight benefits make up for this but most of the time employees do not fly free but use the employee discount to buy tickets...

Advice to Management

Modernize the culture, create fair hiring and promotional practices, enhance the flight benefit program, it seems to have become more of an employee discount program than a true standby travel program

Does United Airlines offer relocation assistance?

Pros

Flight benefits are superb Physical office support tools are very good The benefits package is extensive They offer ample vacation and it grows over time to be excellent There are lots of opportunities for internal advancement if you're liked

Cons

It is easy to get "stuck" in one position if you're not selected by management The ample vacation time offered can mean very little due to the restrictions in place on placement of said vacation Management is not receptive to its employees needs or suggestions Management is not supportive and will only help out if it's mutually beneficial Management's expectations for performance is incredibly inconsistent If you are not liked by management, you won't be fired but you will be made to feel so unwelcome and demeaned you will have no choice but to leave There are no SOPs or written protocols to reference for operating procedures and management uses that to enforce or make up rules at will. If you stay in the same position you will never get a substantial pay raise to even compensate for inflation. The only way to get a raise is to get a promotion.

Advice to Management

Management needs to support their employees with concrete protocols, create better communication channels, and trust their employees more.

The benefits package is extensive

Does United Airlines offer sponsored degrees?

Pros

This is the best company that I have ever worked for. The pay is fair and competitive, The flight benefits are fantastic . Good health benefits, There is plenty of room for growth and there are opportunities for advancement if you want them. The work-life balance is good. The Willis Tower office is in a good location.. It's within walking distance of Metra and CTA stations as well as close to good restaurants and shopping. United invests in innovation and is dilligently working to recruit diverse talent while also working to increase advancement opportunities for women and minorities that are currently there. I'm proud to work for an industry leader.

Cons

It would be nice to see a tuition reimbursement plan introduced in the near future.
