Pros

I know a lot of companies say this, but the people here are incredible. I feel very comfortable bringing my authentic self to work. Very collaborative team. Your voice gets heard here. Lots of opportunity to work on the broader business if you are interested Room to move across the business Remote first company Benefits: unlimited PTO that is encouraged, 100% paid medical (self), 6 month maternity leave and 3 month paternity leave, 5k 401k match, stock options

Cons

Being remote first, you dont have many opportunities to meet colleagues in person if you do not live in a city with a Glassdoor office (SF, Chicago, Dublin) The partnership with Indeed is still developing Day to day can get repetitive/stale if you are not actively seeking new challenges or opportunities to learn

Pros

-great employee benefits like catered lunches, gym/exercise classes, 401K matching & general flexibility. Friendly/knowledgeable peers and high approval of executives

Cons

-relatively low salary/bonuses compared to others in the Bay Area tech space. The positives of a start-up culture were also matched with the negatives of feelings of disorganization & need for process streamlining at times

Pros

I love working at Glassdoor, I have great teammates. We're a great size where you can continually learn new things but folks still know each others names and are invested in helping people out. I recently went on parental leave and my time away was generous, paid at 100%, and my transition into leave and then back to work were both smooth. This was aided both by the attentiveness of the People team and my coworkers. I've done a fair amount of job hopping prior to working at Glassdoor, and have yet to experience better work/life balance at any of my previous employers. The benefits are top notch. The 401k match could be more generous and a different vendor (e.g. Vanguard) would take less fees, but that feels like a small complaint when stacked up against our quality health insurance, generous leave policies and overall flexible workplace. We're a remote-first company but also have a whole team putting thought, time and effort into maintaining a collaborative work environment despite the challenges of remote. I'm so grateful we didn't receive a blanket RTO mandate.

Cons

Indeed integration is a real quagmire, upper management doesn't seem to understand the complexity of it. Working with Indeed is a slog through no ones fault, it's two very different companies in size and culture trying to collaborate. Upper leadership sends the toxic positive message of "this partnership makes so much sense" meanwhile there are bugs galore in the integration products and we're not given the time to make the integration work well. It can be frustrating to see Glassdoor teams of 5-6 tasked with accomplishing a set of tasks where the partnering Indeed team has 40+ folks working on it. Engineering leadership in particular ought to have a heavier hand in dictating the time balance between new features and core product stability, when left up to individual teams it almost always means we continue to chug along with a lot of tech debt weighing us down. I've been through two rounds of really heartbreaking layoffs and leadership always talks the good talk about reprioritizing and "doing less" with less team members but that never truly comes to fruition.

Advice to Management

Give teams more space to reduce tech debt and bugs.

Pros

Glassdoor is my favorite company I've ever worked at. The company has done a great job of hiring people who are genuine, smart, hard-working, and passionate about the mission. You really get the sense that leadership cares about you & your wellbeing. I've felt very supported from a career development and mentorship perspective as well. Some highlights of working here: - Amazing work-life balance - Kind & fun coworkers - Work-from-anywhere policy (+ nice offices in SF & Chicago for those who want to be hybrid) - Benefits are solid! Great health insurance options, 5 month parental leave, plus some fertility & therapy-related benefits - People are largely bought into the vision I think it's a great place to build your career as a PM!

Cons

- Compensation could be better (compared to big tech) - Would be nice to have a larger 401k match - Many tech companies offer a paid sabbatical for those who have been at the company for 3+ years. Would be nice if Glassdoor offered something similar!

Pros

- Extremely transparent company with solid ethics - Amazing co-workers that encourage collaboration and innovation whenever possible - Fairly solid benefits (slightly less than other tech companies, but overall mostly comparable) - Fosters strong work / life balance - Remote friendly - New office for those who want to use it is amazing - Strong engineering culture with bi-annual hackathons that almost always has projects that end up in production and / or drive new product decisions

Cons

- Benefits could be slightly better (better 401k match, sabbaticals, bringing back 2 company holidays a month, more logical geo-tiers for pay) - Although becoming less of a problem, lots of resources spent on legacy tech debt - For a while innovation seemed stagnant, but with new fishbowl initiatives (among other things), we seem to be moving in the right direction.

Advice to Management

Keep up the pace! We’re at an inflection point, and all of the new initiatives will improve employee morale / retention. Be careful not to spread resources too thin between all the priorities. Pick a top few initiatives and execute well on them, even if that means pulling resources away from other ones.
