Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor

I worked at US Marine Corps for more than 8 years

Pros

Intensive training, lots of OJT, very fast paced work environment

Cons

High deployment tempo, it is what you make of it, mission accomplishment is #1

I worked at US Navy

Pros

The feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself; worldwide travel; even the mundane parts of Navy life are unique experiences that relatively few people get to experience

Cons

On sea duty, even when you're at home you have to get used to 24-hour duty days every few days. Away from home for long periods of time (obviously). Your experience and quality of life can be highly... dependent on your command leadership and largely out of your hands.
