Manager

I worked at Qualcomm

Pros

It's acceptable to work there and get good working experiences

Cons

Pressure and we have a tight timeline for doing all projects. The management is not generous and with tight budget.

Former Employee - Process Development Engineer

I worked at Illumina full-time for more than a year

Pros

-Company culture -Company events -Work/life balance -Easy going -Good healthcare package

Cons

-Reduced benefits due to budget cuts -Reduced career growth due to budget cuts -401k matching is below average

Advice to Management

I left Illumina because they would not present me with an ideal career growth path. I still talk to old coworkers and they tell me that Illumina has been hiring a lot of non-engineer majors for their... engineering roles (most likely to save money). This fact alone makes me lose faith in Illumina. The company has been struggling with innovation lately and they proceed to hire non-technical people to work for them? I was honestly optimistic about Illumina's future a few months ago, but besides their recent partnership with Roche, nothing too big is happening for them in the near future.
