I have been working at Cengage Group full-time for less than a year
Pros
The best part of Cengage Group is the culture. Of course, "culture" sounds vague and cliche. But if you know, you know. The pay and benefits are good and certainly appreciated. But is just part of... why I stay and grow here. It's all about the vibe, the vision, the culture. There is something special about this group of people that is hard to put into words. The company is transparent and this leads to transparency among the employees. We regularly interact with our ET in ways that would be surprising to an outsider. Employees feel heard and that leads to respect for decisions, even the hard ones. There is a diversity of people here, with all sorts of perspectives on a wide variety of issues. There is a level of respect and honor for one another that is unique. I think it come from the leadership's ability to focus on the problem instead of the personalities. Topics are approached logically and deliberately, but with personal, empathetic touch. Our CEO displays a high level of reasonableness and that filters out to the everyone. This is a complex organization with multiple moving parts, but I have discovered that access to the information and training to do my job is easily available. Resources are redundant--and I mean that in a good way. There are multiple ways to access the info and tools you need to be successful. We are kept in the loop about everything going on with our education brands and departments. I learn something new every week about our business. We are encouraged to ask questions and share our struggles and celebrate accomplishments. My manager goes above and beyond expectations. She is unbelievably professional and makes me feel like I'm the most important person on her schedule for the day. I can't speak for everyone, but I can speak for myself and that is the truth.
Cons
I have none. It's a great place to work ( I work remote, but still--a great "place").
Advice to Management
Keep up the openness and empathy. You don't realize how valuable it is to hear your senior leadership talk to people weekly. I know it is a risk to act so human and vulnerable in a corporate setting,... but it is paying off.
