Current Contractor - Construction Supervisor

I have been working at Canadian Natural Resources for more than 5 years

Pros

I've worked hard and have had continuous work with CNRL. Head down, @$$ up! There are many different work locations, teams, managers, etc. I was fortunate to have some good managers, good co-workers... when I didn't have good managers... overall a good experience.

Cons

They carry around their "dead-weight" (for lack of a better term). Can be frustrating to work with a team of employees that are "protected" because they're employees but don't pull their weight, are... poor at their jobs and don't contribute to the team.

Advice to Management

Positions, promotions, raises, bonuses, etc. should be based on merit. There are many employees that are not pulling their weight and just get shuffled around to different managers because nobody... wants them on their teams or their skills are not at the level required for the work. Focus on truthfully evaluating your employees and building strong teams.

Current Employee - Senior Consultant

I have been working at MNP LLP full-time for less than a year

Pros

Great People, Friendly and great environment, work life balance

Cons

IT consultancy not promoted well so far.
