Can I get advice on how to network? I’m a huge introvert and building professional relationships has been a struggle. I do the linkedin connections request and never speak to them again. How do I approach it? Like not ideals or advice. Hold my hand and tell me what I need to do. I’m so scared. I feel everything is a transaction. Or they know I’m just using them. And i dont have friends and dont maintain old relationships. I have nothing to offer. I dont have value. But i need to learn 🙏

Does anyone actually want to connect on Linkedin? The whole purpose of that platform is to network right? I'm in the process of applying for jobs, and to better help my chances, I've been trying to network with people within similar roles or the hiring team within the company, hoping to gain an edge but not a single person has been interested in replying. I'm wondering if I'm overstepping a boundary, or am I 1 of 100 with the same strategy?

I was put on a PIP when I was teaching high school mathematics & simultaneously pursuing a teaching certification. There hadn’t been any prior complaints about my work. I moved to a new apartment & for some reason my work laptop wouldn’t connect. After 3 technicians examined the problem, it was obviously the laptop. After taking it to the school for help, I was told it was the new internet. I called the principal & let her know I was having connectivity issues & with 3 days left before report….

I don’t know how to network and maintain connections. I have been working in this industry for 15 years, I always get positive reviews about my work and how I show up as an employee, but I still cant seem to maintain connections when I move on from one role to another. I am chronically ill, and so I often don’t have the stamina to do an 8-10 hour workday and then also do happy hour or other social things after work. Im now four months into a layoff and realizing how incredibly isolated I am.

Networking isn't just about LinkedIn, it's about gaining actionable intel. Last year, a former colleague told me their company had a $180k base for a role similar to mine; $40k above my cap. That info gave me the leverage to demand a market rate adjustment during my review, and I got it. Your network is a realtime map of what you're actually worth. Stop just connecting and start trading data with people you trust. Who in your circle is brave enough to talk real numbers with you?

I keep hearing that networking is essential for career growth, but half the time it just feels like a circle of people trying to out-sell each other. I’m not shy. I’ll show up, I’ll talk, but I’m also not interested in pretending I’m so passionate about synergies just to hand out my resume. I want real conversations, not LinkedIn theater. Is there actually a way to network without feeling like I’m performing the entire time?

I don't want to use LinkedIn. It feels like a high school cafeteria dressed up for adults, and everybody's rushing to pat themselves on the back or prattle for the sake of sounding faux-deep. I'll use it if I have to, but is there any other platform worth networking on? It seems like regular job applications don't cut it anymore, you just have to slide into somebody's DM's and state your case as smoothly as possible.

Hey All If you work on the GO train, what provider do you use? I have fido, and I never get enough signal on the GO train to hotspot my laptop, and the WiFi on the train is no good, at least the free one. Does anyone know if the pay one is better? Tech folks, do you think it is a network issue or a hardware issue or both. I use a Google Pixel 7 pro.
