In 1956, Hong Kong Baptist College was founded by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong as a post-secondary college committed to the provision of whole person education. In 1983, Hong Kong Baptist College became a fully-funded public tertiary institution. It gained university status in 1994 and was renamed Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Today HKBU encompasses eight Faculties/Schools offering a range of undergraduate programmes, associate degree and higher diploma programmes as well as taught postgraduate programmes and research postgraduate programmes leading to the award of master and doctoral degrees. It prides itself on its dual focus on teaching and research and encourages service to society among its staff and students. Over the years, HKBU has remained committed to academic excellence and the development of the whole person, and has gained a reputation as one of Asia’s finest institutions of higher learning.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University equips its students with skills -- not to mention degrees. Formerly known as Hong Kong Polytechnic and assuming full university status in 1994, the school offers a variety of academic, master's, and doctoral degrees in multiple fields. Academic programs include applied sciences and textiles, business, communication, construction and land use, engineering, health and social sciences, and hotel and tourism management. The university also provides consulting services to the public and private sectors as well as professional training and applied research services.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) helps to develop the future leaders in Asia. The university offers academic programs in science, engineering, business and management, humanities, and social science. City University of Hong Kong is continually ranked among the world's top 200 universities by the Times Higher Education Supplement. Commonly referred to as CityU, the school enrolls more than 25,000 students and offers almost 150 programs at the associate degree, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Students study business; humanities and social sciences; and science and engineering. CityU also runs a school of creative media, a law school, and the Community College of City University, which was established in 2004 to offer associate degrees in commerce, computer studies, language studies, and social studies. CityU was founded in 1984 as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong.
